“Lovely, but small and lacking privacy”
Apanemo is a pretty place to say, with traditional Theran architecture, great views of the volcano cauldron and it is out of town, so quiet (less the villas on the road). The staff are very helpful and nice with plenty of English for us non-Greeks!
The apartments are cute: Clean and nice, but very small: We couldn't stand up straight in our loft "bedroom" and the double bed was on the floor. There was no other furniture in the "master bedroom". The single bed was a couch in the living room, beneath the mezzanine loft, so very little privacy inside if more than a couple. A second pillow would have been nice.
There is no privacy outside on the balconies or at the pool either; the apartments are all very close to each other, Santorini style.
There was no jug (available on request I believe) or toaster and the restaurant is only open for the buffet breakfast which was annoyingly limited and repetitious. Drinking water was not provided. Snacks are available throughout the day but, if you want to eat something more substantial, it is a steep 15 minute walk to the small town of Akrotiri or a couple of other restaurants. There is a very small shop about three minutes walk away, so a car is a must (it is 20 Euros to anywhere by taxi). ” —Stayed July 2011, traveled with family, East Timor
It’s a hidden gem in Santorini... Rooms are gorgeous, the infinity pool is one of the best I have ever seen, and breakfast is simply great. Staff is very attentive makes you feel like home. It’s definitely the best value for money, which is really hard to find in Greek islands. Well done Apanemo!! ” —Stayed June 2011, traveled as a couple, Athens, Greece
“What an unbelievably fantastic experience!!!!!!!!”
I cannot say enough good things about this hotel and the people who run it. To begin with, spiros the owner is the most genuinely kind man you will ever meet. He will go above and beyond to meet your every need and makes you feel so welcome and his family does the same! The hotel is the most picturesque place I've ever seen, the photos you see are amazing and they don't do it justice! The rooms are beautiful and clean with a view to match...I could have sat on the balcony all day! It's in a quiet area which is good as it is more relaxing! You can hire a car or bike-which spiros organizes and has delivered to the hotel- and on the slow bike it only took us 20 mins to get into thira so by car it would be faster! The breakfast was delicious and the rooms are cleaned spotless every day! It was the favorite part of our 5 week trip and next time we go to Santorini we will be staying at apanemo! Thankyou spiros for making our holiday what it was, you truly are one of a kind!! ” —Stayed July 2011, EmmaMatt, Melbourne, Australia
